MyPlots refunds and fees, explained (2026)
By Raziel Tabib, co-founder of Mesibash
If you've ever searched "myplots refund" you were probably standing outside a party that didn't happen, or looking at a receipt that was bigger than the flyer said. This post answers both questions with MyPlots' own numbers and its own terms, verified October 11, 2026, and then covers what it means if you're the one hosting.
What MyPlots charges (verified October 11, 2026)
Straight from myplots.com and its terms of service:
- Hosting is free. Creating an event costs nothing.
- Free tickets and RSVPs are free. No fees on a $0 ticket.
- Paid tickets: the attendee pays 20% + $1.00 per ticket, added on top of the price the host set. The terms phrase it as "twenty percent (20%) plus one dollar ($1.00) per transaction unless otherwise stated at checkout."
Here's what that looks like at house-party prices. The host sets the first number; the guest's card sees the last one.
- $10 ticket: fee $3.00, guest pays $13.00
- $15 ticket: fee $4.00, guest pays $19.00
- $25 ticket: fee $6.00, guest pays $31.00
- $50 ticket: fee $11.00, guest pays $61.00
MyPlots is upfront that the fee sits on the guest's side, and if every event you throw is RSVP-only it never touches anyone. But on a $15 cover, the fee is more than a quarter of the price, and the guest doesn't see "MyPlots fee" at the door. They see one number attached to your party.
How refunds work on MyPlots
This is the part the pricing page doesn't cover, so it comes from the terms (section 06, Refunds and Cancellations, verified October 11, 2026):
- The organizer sets the policy. "Refunds, exchanges, and cancellations are governed by the policy the organizer sets for each event."
- The default is no refunds. "Unless an organizer specifies otherwise, all ticket sales are final."
- The service fee is never refunded "except where required by law." So even a refunded $15 ticket can leave the $4.00 fee behind.
- The organizer pays for refunds, not MyPlots. "The organizer, not MyPlots, is responsible for funding and issuing any refund."
One more clause matters if you're the host. Section 07 says organizers are responsible for the full ticket amount plus any dispute fee charged by the payment processor, "currently fifteen dollars per dispute," and that MyPlots can debit future payouts to recover it. A guest who charges back a $15 ticket can cost the organizer $30.
If you're a guest trying to get a refund
Three steps, in order. Skip ahead only if the step before gets no answer.
- Read the event's stated policy. It's the organizer's rule, not the platform's. If the page says refunds are available up to a date, you're done; follow the instructions on the page.
- Ask the organizer in writing, through the platform. Not a DM on Instagram. A message on the platform you paid through creates a record tied to the ticket. Say what happened (the event was canceled, the address never came, the night was moved) and ask for the refund by name.
- Dispute the charge with your card as a last resort. An event that never happened is a classic chargeback case. Keep the event page, the receipt, and the dead address. Do this only after step 2 gets nothing: a dispute costs the organizer the ticket plus a $15 fee, so a fair host would rather just refund you.
If you're the host
Two lessons fall out of the terms.
Say your refund policy before anyone pays. "All sales final" is the default, which means silence is a policy, and it's the policy your guests will remember if the night moves. Write one line on the event page: "Full refund if we cancel; no refunds for no-shows." It costs nothing and it's the single biggest trust signal on a paid party page.
Know that the fee is on your guests' receipt, not yours. Your take is the price you set, so the fee never shows up in your math. It shows up in the group chat. A $19 charge for a "$15 party" reads as the host's doing, and the fee is the one part of the night nobody thanks you for.
Where Mesibash sits
The comparison, matter-of-fact:
- You set $15, you get $15. The guest adds a processing fee of 5% + $0.30 at checkout, so $16.05 on a $15 ticket, $52.80 on a $50 ticket. Hosting is free and free tickets are free.
- Payouts arrive about three days after the event. That hold is deliberate: it's what lets a friend-of-a-friend buy a ticket from a host they've never met without asking "is this real?"
- Approve before they pay. When you turn approvals on, guests request to attend, tickets stay locked until you say yes, and everyone gets an email either way. Fewer wrong tickets means fewer refund conversations.
If your crowd finds you through a feed, a 20% fee buys you discovery. If your crowd finds you because they follow you, you're paying a finder's fee for people you already found. Either way, write the refund line.
Frequently asked questions
Is MyPlots free for hosts?
Yes. MyPlots says hosting costs nothing and that RSVPs and free tickets carry no fees. On paid tickets, the attendee pays a processing fee of 20% plus $1.00 per ticket, added on top of the price the host set (verified on myplots.com and its terms, October 11, 2026).
What does a $15 MyPlots ticket cost the buyer?
$19.00. The fee is 20% of $15 ($3.00) plus $1.00, so the guest pays $4.00 on top of the $15 price. On a $50 ticket the guest pays $61.00.
Can I get a refund on MyPlots?
It depends on the organizer. MyPlots' terms say refunds, exchanges and cancellations are governed by the policy the organizer sets for each event, that all sales are final unless the organizer says otherwise, that MyPlots' service fees are non-refundable except where the law requires, and that the organizer, not MyPlots, funds and issues any refund. Check the event's stated policy first, then ask the organizer in writing through the platform.
What does Mesibash charge compared to MyPlots?
On Mesibash the host receives exactly the price they set and the guest adds a processing fee of 5% plus $0.30 at checkout. A $15 ticket costs the guest $16.05 on Mesibash and $19.00 on MyPlots.
